Leadership programs are available in Canada to prepare individuals for leadership roles.
Leadership programs are designed to provide training and background education to help guide employees to become more effective leaders in an organization. Some leadership programs are designed specifically for senior managers and executives of companies to enhance their leadership skills and update leadership and management techniques.
McGill Executive Institute
McGill Executive Institute has an advanced leadership program that is designed for executive professionals. This program provides an opportunity for five to six executives and senior managers from a company to develop and improve leadership capabilities by participating in personal coaching, learning sessions and action plans. The program is designed to be completed in six to eight months and consists of three modules of instruction. These modules are reflective leadership: framing change; designing for change; and action leadership: embedding change.

Royal Roads University
Royal Roads University’s leadership program is designed to be completed in two years and has a specialization area in health. Students begin this program in January, April or June of each year and engage in a combination of on line and on-campus courses throughout the program. Students who choose to specialize in health begin the program in October of each year. Graduates from this program will be educated and trained to motivate, empower and inspire organizations as well as others in an effort to help build healthier environments in the workplace. Courses include organizations and change, building a shared vision, fundamentals of personal leadership and learning, leadership in organizational systems and performance measurement and financial management for leaders.

University of Guelph
The University of Guelph’s leadership degree program is designed to be completed in 20 months and is delivered in an on line format. This program teaches students leadership skills and knowledge through study, interaction, self-reflection and practice. In addition to the on line coursework in this program, students are required to participate in two residential stays prior to graduation. These residential stays last for one week per stay. Students are accepted into the program in May of each year and courses include foundations of leadership, theories of leadership, leadership of organizational change, the role of a leader as a reflective practitioner, research methods for decision making, ethics in leadership and coaching and developing others.
