Ideas For Gifts To Give Groomsmen

Give your groomsmen meaningful gifts.

When your wedding day finally arrives, it may be your groomsmen that help to keep you calm in the hours leading up to the ceremony. Chances are they've done much to assist you beforehand, as well. Giving gifts to your groomsmen is a small way to show appreciation for all they've done. Keep their personalities and tastes in mind when selecting the items.

Traditional Gifts

Traditional gifts for groomsmen generally consist of sophisticated everyday items with a touch of class. Certain types of items may even have specific symbolism attached to them, such as a watch representing a wish for a long, happy life. Other traditional gift ideas include cufflinks, silver flasks, money clips, pocket knives and cigar holders. Stick to giving the same traditional gift to each groomsman, but personalize it in some way, such as monogramming his initials on it.

Modern Gifts

Modern gifts for your groomsmen can be anything from an autographed football from a favorite sports team to personalized beer mugs or shotglasses. Select a modern gift with each groomsman's hobbies in mind. For example, you could give the angler of the group a fancy tackle box, and the avid gamer the latest video game for his favorite system. Other gift ideas along modern lines include leather gloves, a monogrammed briefcase or authentic sports team jersey.

Gag Gifts

Since most of the groomsmen are probably your close friends, chances are you've shared a lot of humorous moments in the time you've been acquainted. Keep them laughing with a wacky gag gift. For example, on the night of your bachelor party, give each one a gift of a T-shirt that says "groomsman." You may also want to tailor the individual gifts toward a funny experience or inside joke the two of you have. Because gag gifts may be viewed as low-class, give them something more traditional, as well.

Experience Gifts

There's nothing that says the gifts to your groomsmen have to be physical items. Break from tradition and give them a gift that focuses on a specific experience. Get tickets to a favorite band or sports team. Pay for a weekend getaway together, such as a camping trip or ski trip, where you can spend some quality time together before the wedding.
