Unusual Things To Do In La

Most people traveling to Los Angeles enjoy traditional and popular visitor attractions such as Disneyland, Hollywood and Rodeo Drive. Some, once they have visited all of the traditional tourist attractions look off the beaten path. Known for the wacky and unusual, the city rarely disappoints.

L.A. County Coroner

The L.A. County Coroner's Skeletons in the Closet is a store that depicts some of Los Angeles' darker souvenirs. Celebrate your visit to Los Angeles by purchasing a beach towel that features a dead body outlined in chalk or a key chain toe tag used for identifying deceased individuals.

Skeletons in the Closet opened in 1993 in response to the Los Angeles County Coroner's office needing more recognition. As of 2010, the store has over 30,000 catalog subscribers from around the world and is still generating more wacky items such as the 'undertakers' boxer shorts, body post-it pads and the L.A. County Coroner's seal placed on t-shirts, briefcases, coffee mugs and tote bags.

Great Wall

The Great Wall of Los Angeles is a monument that celebrates the inter-racial harmony of the Los Angeles area. The wall is half a mile long and features a variety of artwork that depicts different ethnic communities in Los Angeles from prehistoric times to the 1950s. The park that houses the great wall also contains a variety of bike paths and a playground where visitors can relax when exploring the area. Visitors can expect to find representation of the different ethnic communities that helped shape the Los Angeles area, including African American, Asian and American Indian people.

Ripley's

The Ripley's Believe It or Not Museum is located in the suburb of Hollywood and features unusual museum exhibits in the form of artwork and artifacts from around the world. Visitors will browse through the weird and wacky exhibits such as a shrunken head, a two-headed calf, a double-eyed man and historical information on Marilyn Monroe, John Wayne and Elvis Presley. The museum can entertain families for hours as it also features an interactive room called the Odditorium and an educational theater.
