How Make A Lupin Costume With No Money

While the Harry Potter series has ended, fans continue to dress as the characters.

Professor Remus J. Lupin is a character from the Harry Potter series who happens to be a werewolf. In general, though, he is an impoverished wizard with shabby clothes. In the movie he's played by David Thewlis. He is often seen wearing a brown suit with a dark brown tie and a pale blue shirt. He carries a wand, and is sometimes seen with a briefcase. Putting together a costume with no money is tricky, although it requires no tools.

Instructions

1. Take inventory of what items you may already have. You need a briefcase (optional), brown suit jacket, a pair of brown slacks, a light blue or slate dress shirt and a dark tie. Make a list of these things and mark off everything that you have.

2. Ask your friends who are close to the same size as you if they have any of the things on the list you need. If they do, ask to borrow them, and mark these items off the list. If you still don't have some items, check with an older relative. Sometimes older men have suits that they don't wear anymore, but can't bear to get rid of. Mark off anything you have. If you still cannot find some items, you may ask your friends of the opposite sex who have clothes that may fit you. They may have clothing that an ex left behind, or they may simply have an item that will work. Most people aren't going to notice if the suit jacket is for boys or for girls.

3. Walk to the nearest wooded area. Look around and find a piece of wood that is about as thick as your thumb (not much thicker). It is likely that you will find a branch that's the right thickness but too long. Placing a the stick on the ground, put your foot on the stick a little over than a foot from the end you want your wand to be on. Pull up on the "wand" part of the stick to break off a piece that is the right length. This will be the length in your hand. Using the sandpaper or the sharp knife (either one) scrape off the bark and any rough surfaces.

4. Color the masking tape with the gold or silver marker until you have a strip of 3 inches or more, depending on the size of your handwriting. Using the black permanent marker, write "R. J. Lupin" on the piece of tape. Peel the tape off the roll and cut both ends so that you have a neat and rectangular piece of tape. Stick this to your briefcase, just under the handle.
