Use A Keurig Single Cup Coffee Maker

Keurig single cup coffee makers are popular among homeowners as well as workplaces and businesses that wish to give their employees or customers a quick and convenient cup of coffee. While easy to use, they are a bit confusing at first.

Instructions

Coffee in a flash

1. Plug the machine in. The Keurig is fast but requires a moment or two to heat the water.

2. Fill the reservoir. Keurig machines store enough water for several cups of coffee. The reservoir lid is on the top left of the machine. Lift it and fill with water. You may hear a buzzing noise; this is the machine taking in water to heat.

3. Choose your coffee. Many machines come with a selection of K-cups, which are individual plastic cups containing both the coffee and a filter. Choose which one you would like, but do not remove the foil lid.

4. Insert the K-cup. Right above the Keurig logo on the center of the machine is a handle. Lift it gently to open the coffee chamber and locate the circle-shaped hole. Insert the cup into the hole and use the handle to close the lid. Then look to the right side of the machine at the display. Wait until it says Ready to Brew.

5. Get your cup ready. Place the cup on the tray at the bottom and center of the machine.

6. Choose your size and press the brew button. Many Keurigs are programmed to fill cups of varying sizes. Below the display will be several buttons marked with a picture of a cup of coffee. If you have not used a Keurig before, it's best to choose the smallest, so the cup does not overflow.

Tips Warnings

A common complaint about Keurig coffee makers is that they are wasteful. The K-cups are plastic, and many people throw them away. Keurig now produces another filter with two advantages: It is refillable and reusable, and it works with any kind of ground coffee. You may wish to consider using this instead of the disposable cups.
